damon kirby kinda got turned on to this kat sorta late, but better late than never🤷🏻‍♂️... seriously one of the best lp’s to drop in a hot minute. If you’re a fan of Christoph De Babalon or Bogdan Raczynski, Hexadeci will slip all up in ya all comfy and proper. Every track on this Xl65 is a f’n burner, so I can’t pick just one. Snatch it up, rave it up solo or with friends

Ultra Chupa Although a lot more tight and focused than the previous EP, Hexadeci's music is still as schizophrenic as ever. I can't be sure but I think I hear a ping pong ball sampled somewhere. With this dude, it wouldn't surprise me. Favorite track: The Last Train.

released October 27, 2017

When we released Hexadeci's Alone In The Dark EP we never once thought that within six short years, the person responsible for Swiss Yodelcore's sonic twists and turns would provide an album quite on the calibur of XL65. Sure, the novelty of yodeling & gabber kicks *still* hasn't worn off, but Hexadeci makes no qualms about his directional shift with this lo-fi, full-length debut.

Yes, the familiar clanging of his Amiga 1200 is still intact, and yes it's probably still going to sound dreadful to the untrained ear, but it seems his penchant for re-appropriating one-off pop samples is no longer a priority. Instead, he now pushes his trademark detuned square waves to the forefront and allows factory steam & bit-crushed pads equal opportunity to create mood and tension in ways rarely seen in this genre...whatever this genre may be. Sonically, XL65 flows together beginning to end, and seems to continue where the earliest days of Warp Records left off.

In short, Radiograffiti couldn't be any more excited to finally unleash Hexadeci's finest work yet. XL65 is something of an accidental concept album, but we can't really place what that concept is. The cold and precise mechanical album art and sonic texture places this squarely in the perfect winter album category, best paired with the glow of streetlights and the bite of the first seasonal frost. Just in time. Enjoy.
